Haus in Cluj-Napoca
Houses are a collection of episodes. This house deals with today’s European realities. It is a part of a network knitted out of ideas, people and building knowledge that has emerged over the course of history; with a substantial intensification since 1989 on reconnected ground in the Eastern Europe.
The design process for a building in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, evolves into a palimpsest of references and theories, life stories and supply chains as well as impressions and encounters.
As a reflection of that, the house itself – an adaptable arrangement of spaces – will bear witness to ever changing users and multiple uses that will overwrite and physically manifest themselves. Its aim is to mediate space and enable use and less to prescribe purpose.
